Was hoping the cc: would move the whole thread, guess not. Here's the original
question:

Hello All:

A newbie here with OpenSolaris and could use some pointers from you seasoned
veterans:

I have install snv_66 from binaries (it works great!)
I have built with nightly both the source tarball and a pull from hg at onnv_66
(No build errors)
I have used Install to successfully install and boot the ON built from source
(No Install errors)

However, the kernel build from source is definitely different both in terms of
size and layout, and function. The /platform/i86pc/kernel from the binary
install is smaller both in size and # of files than the
/platform/i86pc/mykernel.onnv_66 that I built.

When I boot my kernel Nautilus randomly crashes, zfs crashes, etc. What am I
missing here? Do you really need to use BFU? I would think that if I have the
same level of source, Cap-Eye Install would work!

I am using SunStudio 11 to build as advised in the documentation.

Any advise for me? Help...
