> That's all very well, but you can't buy Office 2003 any more. Why not just switch to OpenOffice.org from Sun Microsystems? It's free, it's open source, and IMO it's much better than Microsoft Office 2k7:
http://www.openoffice.org/ You do know that once Oracle finishes acquiring Sun, they are going to find a way to move all large enterprises and governments away from Microsoft Office and on to OpenOffice or Star Office anyway, right? So why not join the winning team? Also, if there's a feature that you want in OpenOffice that isn't in there already, you're always free to download the source code, add the feature you want and then recompile. The reason I was interested in Bordeux is because I wanted to get my existing versions of MathCAD and Mathematica up and running on Solaris. I was also hoping to run a bunch of CISCO network simulation software (like CISCO Packet Tracer) and maybe GNS3 under Wine on Open Solaris like this: http://inspirated.com/2009/03/06/using-cisco-packet-tracer-on-linux Also the 3270 mainframe terminal emulators available for Microsoft Windows like this one: http://www.tombrennansoftware.com/edit.html are much better than the x3270 emulator available for Blastwave (you can't even resize the window in x3270, it's pure torture to try to use it). It would also be nice to get a lot of the video and audio editing software that only works on Microsoft Windows up and running on Wine / Solaris as well. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
