Vikram, Thanks for your reply. After adding $ sign, the system booted up - which proves that rpool was fine. However when I boot directly from disk, I still get the dreaded "GRUB" prompt and then goes nowhere. I tried again "installgrub -m stage1 stage2 /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0", no help.
