The target audience, which is sysadmins and system engineers, is familiar with
C, and the project stands to benefit from that expertise.
Not to mention that C will give you maximum performance, short of writing IPS
in assembler.
The fact that some portions already had to be (re)written in C is proof enough
that Python is not the best solution for the end product.
It is only proof that *some* portions are better written in C, it is not
proof that the product as a whole would be better written in C.
We welcome contributions of course if you're willing to work on
performance-sensitive areas.
Otherwise, our development team is better spent on other issues.
