Well, pudding is served with a spoon. About all I can tell you is that this is red pudding. I don't have anything staked on their results. I'm not a big company, or an SMB, I'm just a person, not a thing on paper. I only work on other people's computers for them. I don't sign the checks buying them, and it's not my job to sell the products to the people who do pay money for other people's computers. What I do with computers that I own doesn't really matter to anyone besides myself.
So you see it's entirely rational for me to have perfect faith in Oracle's management, marketing, & sales people to make a market where anything I know about Sun products going forward is of value due to a job well done on their part. They bought Sun, value creation & competition for what they sell is up to those people. In the meantime, you can find a lot of good help for OpenSolaris around this site, and that won't disappear. Granted, you might end up having to use different tableware at some point in the future, but that's not going to be anytime soon, or worth waiting on. In the meantime we have some nice bowls of OpenSolaris snacky-poofs to nom on with the spoon you've got.
