The problem with specifying VPN solutions is that it allows for SSL and IPSec VPNs.
Worked with Checkpoint for over 14 years I do not remember their ever being a Solaris VPN client but they do offer SSL VPN. Cisco do support Solaris SPARC on one of their VPN client applications, however the latest Cisco AnyConnect VPN client is Windows only and is a SSL VPN technology. I know that Palo Alto Networks do not provide any IPSec client software and only support SSL VPNs. Juniper does not support Solaris (but does Win, Linux, MacOS) while Fortinet's ForiClient is Windows only. It is fair to say that Solaris VPN client solutions from Firewall vendors are not common, however as IPSec is used then it possible to configure an IPsec tunnel from a OpenSolaris/Solaris host to any firewall. However, getting a Firewall Administrator unless you are a CEO of a corporate is virtually nil. What is required is on OpenSolaris/Solaris is a generic VPN client, which allows central control of the IPFilter firewall on the host, secure authentication which would require account locking of non authorised accounts, dynamic interface and route creation and policy enforcement. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
