It is simply TRUE that "If you use OpenSolaris, you should know how to build applications from source." Building applications from source is part of Unix culture.
Notice I didn't say one MUST know how to do this. And accordingly, I provided information about where to obtain already built binaries, something which you ignored for some reason.
