Thanks for the response. This worked. The first time I setup the fdisk table and attempted to mkfs it complained about I/O error. I thought it may be a size thing with usb so I cut the partition size down to 500Gig. This went right through so I incremented to 750G which also worked so I went back to 1Tbyte and it worked. Don't know why I got the IO error the first time but I am happy now..
