Yes, you need pool version 16 (stmf property) to use COMSTAR.

I can think of one: If you've done an OS upgrade, upgrading the zpool
takes away your ability to roll back the upgrade, since the old OS
won't be able to read the upgraded pool.
Obviously this isn't so much of a concern in the case of a reinstall,
but it does mean that if you find a bug in Solaris 11 you can't work
around, you won't be able to easily go back. For that reason I tend
to hang back on zpool upgrades until I'm sure the new system is stable.
Ok, so it seems a good idea to wait a couple of weeks before upgrading
the pool and zfs datasets.
One questions remains though:
Do i need the stmf property in order to use COMSTAR iscsi?
