I just installed OpenSolaris (for the first time ever), since I felt it was
time to upgrade from Solaris 10. I am doing this on a SPARC based system.

Since I happened to have Nevada build 108 on DVD already, I went ahead
installing that release, to get familiar with the procedure. I always intended
to re-install with something more recent once I'd gone through the process once.

Reading up about the new package management system, it didn't take me long to
realize I had no "pkg" command.

bash-3.2# pkg
bash: pkg: command not found
bash-3.2# ls -l /usr/bin/*pkg*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root bin 126564 Feb 2 2009 /usr/bin/pkg-config
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root bin 9224 Feb 3 2009 /usr/bin/pkg2du
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root bin 66872 Feb 5 2009 /usr/bin/pkgadm
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root sys 100664 Feb 5 2009 /usr/bin/pkgcond
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root sys 61684 Feb 5 2009 /usr/bin/pkginfo
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root bin 147000 Feb 5 2009 /usr/bin/pkgmk
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root sys 53180 Feb 5 2009 /usr/bin/pkgparam
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root bin 12940 Feb 5 2009 /usr/bin/pkgproto
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root bin 11592 Feb 5 2009 /usr/bin/pkgtrans
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     root          36 Aug 14 19:03 /usr/bin/unopkg ->
../../opt/staroffice8/program/unopkg
bash-3.2# pkginfo|grep pkg
system SUNWpkgcmdsr SVr4 package commands (root)
system SUNWpkgcmdsu SVr4 packaging commands (usr)
system SUNWplowr Root pkg partial locales.

So, I concluded this package must have been skipped and went to look for it on
the DVD. No luck. It seems that neither build 108 nor 117 or 119 have
"SUNWipkg". Information on the Internet seems to be spotty at best (with most
of the promising looking links being broken). And I looked through *all* pkgmap
files on the DVD images for usr/bin/pkg...

What to do? Did I miss something blatantly obvious? Where and how do I get
SUNWipkg installed on my box?

Thanks,
-Markus
