Are you installing Solaris Express from Sun's downloads area or Open Solaris as linked to through the Open Solaris site? IIRC, Solaris Express is around build 57, and Open Solaris is around build 63. In some cases, moving from one to the other may take care of hardware issues.
Did you manage to do the install before seeing this problem, or is the boot process from the install dvd/cd hanging?
