Can you try to get the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file?
Does X log any errors to that file?

Is that an old nvidia card? Support for older nvidia
cards has been removed from the nvidia driver, you may
have to install one of the legacy drivers:

The opensolaris livecd installer needs a graphics environment.
Maybe you could setup the network, ssh in from a
remote system and start Xvnc on the livecd, and
connect to the livecd system with a vncviewer from
a remote system and install the system?
