Save it to some USB flash memory stick, or similar device?

"iostat -En" lists the disk devices, and
"mount -F pcfs /dev/dsk/c2t0d0p0:c /mnt"
mounts the FAT filesystem on such an USB
memory stick (replace c2t0d0 with the device
name found from the iostat -En output)

Hmm, so it seems there are different error messages
in the nvidia and vesa case; it seems with the nvidia driver
you get "no screens found" and with the vesa driver
you get "no modes found". Correct?

PCIe is quite common these days, and should be
detected by the nvidia driver just fine.
