1) Not really sure what difference between lo0 and bcme0 is.

lo0 is the 'loopback' interface

bcme0 is your ethernet port. so you have a driver and a port.

2) Not sure why DHCP isn't giving me an address
there ahs to be a description of your networking equipment/ provider type. do
you ahve dual boot setup ie windows or linux? if so boot in and wirte down the
netork info from control panel or ifconfig

3) no idea how to configure DHCP on opensolaris end if I need to
shoudl not need to . may however need to configure a dhcp server ie the router
or other device on local network

4) no idea how to configure manually if I want to set a static address
yes but we need to know what you network numbers are for your local network

.....but opensolaris is still very much a mystery.
nah, linux is pretty similar and the manual config files are all in the /etc
directory

/etc/hosts
/etc/netmask
/etc/hostname.[interface] <----- must correlate to your ethernet card driver
/etc/defaultrouter
/etc/nodename
/etc/resolv.conf
/etc/nsswitch.conf

hope this helps, uhh hoep i dint forget any of them har
