No there is no bug. When changing a property you really have to click on the 
'ethernet' card just by selecting it in the main window. So it was my fault.

I could set the netmask address from the BSD setting and from that one could 
calculate the first address in the netmask file (AND operation).
Adding this gave me exactly the same broascast address as in the BSD config.
Then I added in on resolve.conf and nsswitch.conf, two DNS values again 
extracted from the functional XP/BSD computer:
nameserver 213.221.144.250
nameserver 213.221.128.240

Now I can always connect to the router, but still not to the internet. When I 
checked the defaultrouter file, I saw the address of th gateway. I changed 
this, but still without success. I can ping this router, but when using 'route 
add default 192.168.100.1' I get back that this address is unreachable.
Additionally, this router has only one ethernet connection, so I certainly will 
add a switch.

Any other thoughts about whatelse could go wrong? Today I will also pay a visit 
to internet provider.
