Install OpenSolaris to a separate disk. For ZFS raid, dont use h-w raid controller card, because ZFS can not offer full reliability. ZFS wants to get raw access to discs, with no disturbances such as a controller card.
You must format your raid-5 raid and recreate a new ZFS raid. You should use at least raidz2. Dont use raidz1, it is not as safe as raidz2.
