May be the CAIMAN installer does not like your PC: Please Download a Biweekly Solaris eXpress Community Edition DVD instead
Please use the option to install Solaris eXpress Community Edition from the DVD. This will use the OLD solaris installer. When You select the Developer edition you use the new CAIMAN installer. The developer tools can be installed in a later operation after SXCE has been installed. Using the install script in the Developertools directory on the DVD. The Old installer will first ask you for all the networking details and time zone. Then you should select: New Install . and then Custom Install. Then finally, you come to the phase where you partition the disk . Firstly select the boot disc. You should see a picture with the four possible PC-BIOS partitions One being occupied by windows. Select another for solaris with a minimum size of about 20 GB . Secondly you are asked to specify the Solaris file system sizes. Make root approx 10 GB SWAP mor than 2 GB /var about 5 GB /export/home 3 GB Come back here if this procedure fails too. //Lars This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-help mailing list [email protected]
