Hi larsager, you seem to be in a Workgroup. Therefore, you may need to provide the hostname or IP of the fileserver as authority. That is the meaning of the value before the "\". Your W7 are only clients. The users there are normally unknown to the server, even if they have the same names.
The simplest thing for you might be to use this: http://blogs.sun.com/afshinsa/entry/how_to_enable_guest_access If you need access control, it is preferable to have a DC.
