In the Grub menu, press "e" to enter editing mode. Select the line that starts
with "kernel$", edit that line ("e" once more, I guess) and remove
"console=graphics" so that it looks like the following:
kernel$ /platform/i86pc/kernel/$ISADIR/unix -B $ZFS-BOOTFS
When you press "b", your machine should boot in text mode.
