Marnix,

did you ever come across some strange issue where Gnome/Nautilus couldn't create certain files such as .ICEauthority file or .bashrc file?

As currently I am getting a blue screen with nothing else other then the desktop backround as there seem to be wrong permissions for the X windowing system to create menus etc.

Regards,

Kaya

I had the same problem as ksaman. I installed opensolaris snv_134 on my z61m thinkpad laptop via a USB stick and whenever I would boot, it would restart shortly after the orange progress indicator appeared. By editing the kernel line in the grub boot menu to remove the 'console=graphics' part, I was able to get in. Strangely, I expected to boot up in a text mode, but I still got a blue screen and then ended up in a GUI console. The only difference I could see in the boot process was that I didn't see the progress indicator. I suppose I could now change the /rpool/boot/grub/menu.lst file to permanently remove the ',console=graphics' from the 'kernel$' line, but I'm wondering if that's the correct fix. Is it?

Thanks,

Marnix

Thanks for the input Marnix,

I've just in fact removed all color and graphics lines and my console is coming up with

Error 27: unrecognized command

Press any key to continue....

I am just rebooting now to try your suggestion: ..........

Ok :-) it looks like I too am in!!

Many thanks for the input......

Kaya
