I am not a lawyer either, but I can tell you that RSA have a licensing
program for the RSA patent that is different from their BSAFE license.
I haven't seen full terms of either, but they would be entirely within
their rights to restrict your use of RSA to a particular implementation.
They can negotiate whatever licence terms they like, and if you agree
and pay, you're bound by those terms.
