Not every C program is always compiled with a C compiler.

Or if the authors have it so busted (or half fixed) that it doesn't compile
on your platform anyway and you think that removing const might just fix it.
Been there, and just wanted to report that it's unlikely to work. Perhaps it
wasn't being suggested, but it's still worth saying "don't go there".
