I just had some probs compiling 0.9.6 on BCB4 related to the problems
reported back in October on this thread.

I used the fix reported by Jim Hud (2000-10-22 8:24:01), and it worked, but
I was wondering what the consequences are of removing that piece of code.
I'm not very familiar with the internals of openssl, is crippling readtimer
going to affect anything?
