Hi Evgeniya,

As we talked previously on the past calls, we defined VCPU’s, Memory, Floating
IPS, Disk Size, Traffic out , counters for Flat and PAYG subscriptions.

The only way of obtaining FloatingIPS / Disk Size / Traffic out, is using the
Ceilometer API.

An example (NOVA) can be found here :
http://docs.openstack.org/api/openstack-compute/2/content/ext-os-simple-tenant-usage.html

But as it doesn’t return all the important information we are not using the
NOVA API.
If you have any other way to obtain the current usage, including the Disk
size, floating IPs and Traffic out, for all the resources make me know, we have
tried many API calls and think that this is the best way to do it.

Please confirm what action we should take… We can disable the Floating IPS and
Traffic out, and disk size counters, and try to obtain the rest of the
information through the Nova API if you want. But then the Counters i mentioned
will not be updated.

**The Nova API usage is now implemented in CCP, for updating the Virtual
Machines usage without having to make that slow request, but only for that view
and not the Usage Retrieve cron.

Thank you

Javier,

Which API do you use to get statistics? Ceilometer or Nova?

As per what we agreed you are meant to you use Nova API in order to reduce time
spent on getting instance’s resource usage.
Anyway, i will check with OpenStack experts what can be the cause of the
problem.

Thanks.

Hi,

We are working on all the UI improvements commented on the wednesday’s call.

We were checking if the resources were correctly updated, but we noticed the
Counters are not updating correctly, and we found a Error on the Openstack API.

Remember we already got problems with this request (Usage statistics Call), its
not responding again. Meanwhile we can keep working on the found bugs and
improvements. But i think its important to make you know this.
