Go to any bug, this for instance: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=216097 The status is clearly marked in red, "New". You can change it at the bottom but in this particular case Christoph asked to post to the mailinglist with reasons for making a given bug a "blocker", not changing it autonomously, as we'd then soon have 800 blockers.
