I don't exactly recognise the situation.  I don't use the openSUSE
firewall, so I can't say much about that, but the rest works just fine
here.  We have about 20 servers, plus a large(ish) cluster and 1
Windows workstation.

Cups has never caused any such problems for me - the one challenge I had
was getting printing from Windows to work too, and even that was
quickly dealt with.

Definitely.  I just doubt if that is the case, to be perfectly honest.

Yep, that sounds about right.  Depending on how open things are, you
might need to adjust authentication here or there.

If you were expecting help from the list without describing your
problems and without any kind of diagnostics, I think you're going to
be disappointed.
