I also tried the ATI driver install on my Dell Latitude C510 (Has the ATI Mobility chipset) and sax test failed...tried anyway and x would not come up...even after uninstalling fglrx still could not get it working so eventually had to reinstall.  (I'm getting good at reinstalls)
