I recommend staying away from JPackage. It may be a fine repository, but 
it will not mix well with other packages, as you've discovered.


Anyway, I retrieved the binary distribution in .tar.gz format and had no 
trouble running the CLI version. The distribution is self-contained, 
other than, of course, the JVM itself.
