I can't really answer your question as I wouldn't touch Gnome with a ten foot pole and thus have no idea what's on the gnome supplementary repo. But I can tell you this much - the supplementary repos are not supported - updating from them is at one's own risk. For all I know it might be the development version for 2.14 that you've updated to. I remember development/beta versions being on there before (Gnome 2.11). Any number of things could be wrong - that's the risk of updating from supplementary.
