true but it can do the job :-). Just had problem because it
exports bitmaps as png (but may be there is a jpg option).

Krita do the job, but looks much like paintshop, much too
complicated for the goal.
Kolourpaint is definitively the good answer, I had only to
find it :-)
however, I nerver understood why GIMP don't have so obvious
tools (probably do be different from competitors :-) - I
_like_ GIMP but don't use it enough to know it well, alas
