You could start with http://www.xfce.org/index.php?page=documentation&lang=en#start and | or http://www.xfce.org/documentation/docs-4.2/ It heavily depend on how you made xdm to login automaticly, anyway you need to start startxfce4 in order to start xfce4 You probably want to edit /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager Hope it will help.
