Hi David Have a look at Yast->System->Profile Manager. At the bottom right is a configure button to configure resource groups. On my 10.2 system, samba isn't included in the default resource groups, but you should be able to add in the services (samba, smbfs and/or nmb), config files etc. to allow you to save two different samba states.
