We, at the BLU, run Linux installfests every quarter, and the one brand of laptop that tends to be the easiest to install is the Lenovo Thinkpad. While I've had very good luck with HP laptops, I know that many people have had trouble. In contrast, just about every Dell we've encountered has had some difficulty.
