I'm looking into a Thinkpad T60p. It has a ATI Mobility FireGL V5250
graphics gard. AFAIU, that card is supported by a proprietary driver. I
remember to have heard bad things about that driver, much more so than
about the proprietary Nvidia driver.
I would be interested in experience reports about the usage of that
graphics card with SUSE Linux. Does it work at all? How about crashes?
Does it work with suspend (-to-ram and -to-disk are both of interest)?
FWIW, in case it matters: I don't play games on the system, typical
usage scenarios are office work, VMware, and DVD playing.
Thanks in advance for any answers,
I should say that I did some inquiries: I know about
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Fglrx
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problems_with_fglrx
http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/ati-installer-HOWTO.html
So the basic information (how to get the fglrx driver and how to
install it) is available. I'm more interested in SUSE-specific
information, and in reports that go beyond how to install it.
Cheers,
Joachim
