line to indicate that line power has been lost.
And then you'll find that many PCs do not have a serial port.
The usb method is the way of things to be, and besides, can give you
more info, like current AC voltage, state of the battery, remaining on
battery time (so that the driver decides when to power off safely)...
Just a single line to tell you that you are running on batteries is
insufficient nowdays.
Agreed, I use the temperature of the ups to monitor the the environment in the
server room (^-^)
