PEOPLE! I think it would be nice to step back a little and be a little less prickly; the original poster had two primary problems (he confused actions and views, first, and second, wanted to know how to tailor views for specific useragents.)
Anders addressed the first problem, initially, because it's actually harder to grasp than the second problem. This is, in fact, "helping." It's not as clear as solving the second problem directly, but yields much better benefits in the long run. Once the first problem is solved, the second becomes much easier. I think it'd be nice to take the "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" approach here. Anders' method is a lot closer to what you see on IRC, because the original POST was a lot like you see on IRC: "How do I clear the console screen" gets asked a lot, and has the same kind of double-problem (console is stupid in java, and then how do you clear the stupid console?) IRC gets maligned a lot because the average person on IRC is a complete, clueless, abject moron... but the responses you see on IRC tend to yield fantastic results overall. (Don't forget that tech channels on IRC are regularly lambasted as being very unfriendly, despite visible results.) It's okay, folks, on both sides. Chill. Now, ob. webwork: there are two ways you could approach the user-agent thing: one is to have an action choose a view based on useragent headers (available through ServletActionContext, IIRC). This action would be chosen last in the action chain. The other way is to use a view tech that allows you to render based on useragent, such as sitemesh. --------------------------------------------------------- Joseph B.
