Hi Chris, yes the freerdp implemetation in our version 1.x is buggy. We know that and this has been one of the reason to decide to build a version 2 from scratch.
I strongly encourage you to switch to version 2. It has much better hardware support, it is faster. Any further development will only be done on version 2. Actually there is only rdesktop available for version two, but we're looking for finacial support to release more and more packages. My colleague Alexander will contact you.
