Hi Jorn.
Many thanks for coming back to me.
Last weekend I created a DHCP server from an old machine to see what a
difference it would make to the Thin Client boot up time.
I have been taking two sets of timing namely from thin client startup until the
Welcome to Thin Client Window and then from Log In at this window until the
Thin Client Desktop appears. I was logging 6 mins 23 secs to the login  and
6min 30 secs until the desktop with the Router based DHCP.
With the new DHCP server the time until the Welcome Thin Client window went up
to 8 min 45 secs and the time from login to Thin Client Desktop went to only 50
seconds.
As the machine has booted I have noticed delays at Building initial TCOS base
config, and I will try to send you more detail about the delays.
By the way I am using a 10/100/1000 switch with an OTC server, a DHCP server
and a router (only giving internet now) and one thin client.
I shall implement the Name Resolution you talked about and shall come back to
you if I may.
Really appreciate your help.
Regards

Dave

Hi Dave,

using a router as the dhcp-server is no problem. OTC uses a dhcp-proxy to
notice the pxe-boot requests. You should not install openthinclient on a
machine which already used as dhcp-server.

Name resolution should be used. Be sure that you can resolve (network-wide)
an IP for the name (hostname) of your otc-server. I.g. if your server is
named otc-server.mynet.intern you should be able to ping it.

Do i understand you correct - your clients do startup slowly? Please hit a
way the splashscreen and find out which part of the boot process does take
so much time.

Regards,

Jörn
