If you use our new daemon, the OpenVAS Manager, together with the old
Scanner daemon, then you get server side data storage and a well defined
protocol to access that data. See

        http://www.openvas.org/about-software.html

for an overview of the architecture. See

        http://www.openvas.org/protocol-doc.html

for documentation of the XML protocol used to access the data (OMP).

There are also new clients that provide web, cli and desktop access to the
Manager.

Other people have also asked for this recently. An OMP API would make most
sense. Feel free to contribute something!
