I'm looking for a way to use Freewifi_secure in France via some sort of router/access point that will get me a bit more range than just using WiFi from a mobile phone or laptop.
EAP-SIM is a way to authenticate a WiFi user/connection with some sort of content of a mobile phone SIM. You get a SIM from Free in France (the basic, low usage one is only 2.99 Euros/month) and, if you put it in your mobile phone it will automatically make a WiFi connection to any FreeWifi_secure hotspot it can see. It's (fairly) easy to do the same authentication from a Linux computer, there's a couple of sites I've found describing how to do it. However this doesn't improve the range really (unless you happen to have a super-sensitive WiFi in your laptop). So I was wondering if I run Openwrt in an outdoor router/access point of some sort that also has a USB dongle slot where I can insert the SIM reader I could get what I want. Thus, I want an outdoor box that can run Openwrt (easily please!) and has a USB slot. Any suggestions? One possibility might be a Mikrotik but I'm not sure what their outdoor options are like. -- Chris Green _______________________________________________ openwrt-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.openwrt.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/openwrt-users
