Dennison, What we did is defined alert levels and re-notifications for each host, then set the receive alerts in the contacts appropriately.
For example; Critical Hosts alert 24x7 and re-alert every 15 minutes. The escalation contacts receives notifications from the third alert on, meaning that a critical host will be escalated in 30 minutes Important hosts re-alert every 30 minutes, which means the escalation will occur 60 minutes using the same setting for the contact. The contact setting is "Receive Alerts From". So if you wanted someone to receive an email starting with the third alert...set that to three and then set the re-alert for the hosts to whatever time is acceptable. Does this help? There does not seem to be a way to do this through the web ui. Specifically I would like to be able to do things like escalate to notifications on a contacts pager, and escalate to other contacts after a certain time period that a service or host has not been acknowledged. Any tips out there?
