In a previous life I used to monitor about 50 servers and about 20 things on each server. Practically every monitoring script was in perl. It was handled by a single instance of Nagios and the server was under some load. When I switched to an ePN instance of Nagios the difference was significant. Both load and memory consumption were reduced by a large degree and we could continue to monitor more hosts and services. We did find a few scripts which ePN wasn't happy with but following the guidelines below resolved these issues... http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/epnplugins.html I also never did notice a memory leak - perhaps because memory consumption was so reduced after switching :-) Is is something the team are still considering ? _______________________________________________ Opsview-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.opsview.org/listinfo/opsview-users
