I'm not keen on embedded perl, but that could be a misplaced opinion about it. Our usual technique for handling a larger load on a single Nagios instance is to recommend distributed slaves instead, which then applies for all types of plugins, not just perl ones. > > Is is something the team are still considering ? No. There's a large cost in terms of testing (which plugins cause problems, changes to plugins to avoid the embedded perl) and supporting this option for all versions of Opsview from here onwards. We would only do this if there was sponsorship for this feature. We could find a lower cost way of doing this (compile nagios with it, but default to disable embedded perl, document as experimental support, leave to you to try it and report back), but it would still require sponsorship. You're welcome to discuss with us privately where to go next, but it is not on the immediate roadmap.
