I loaded mysql-5.0.51-sol10-sparc-local and did what the installation manual told me to do without any problems, however when I try to do option: 6. Ensure the MySQL root password has been set to a known value: mysqladmin -u root password {password} I get the following error: r...@fkdev:/usr/local/mysql/bin<mailto:r...@fkdev:/usr/local/mysql/bin> # ./mysqladmin -u root password ./mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'<mailto:'root'@'localhost'> (using password: NO)' and I cannot get past it. I'm not a dba but it lookslike I cannot connect to the sql server. How can I ix this.
