Yes it is, and in the meantime i figured out why this confused me.

I'm just setting up an distributed environment and checks configured for
a slave server get executed there (at the slave server). I'd have
expected the service checks to be executed at the master. That'd make
more sense (e.g. check_icmp is pointless, 'cause localhost will be
checked).

Is possible to configure checks, that are executed by the master-server,
but attached to the slave (to use it's $HOSTADRESS$)?
