Most of our checks are custom perl scripts, some of which have custom check_nrpe timeouts (60 seconds on average) due to the time required to execute the plug-ins locally.
However, I wonder if some of those latencies that are being reported are the result of folks going into Nagios and forcing an active service check with a check time in the past. For instance, if they click ³Re-schedule the next check of this service² and set the ³Check Time² equal to, say, 1 month ago, would that have an impact on the amount of time Nagios thinks was required to schedule or execute that check?
