One of my fellow engineers just stumbled across some weirdness in
scheduling host downtime in Opsview.
On pure nagios systems we were accustomed to scheduling downtime for
a host and also including child hosts in the same window.
When we click on the Scheduled Downtime link and try to schedule
host downtime from this page “/cgi-bin/cmd.cgi?cmd_typ=55” it
appears we still have the option to schedule downtime for child
hosts but when you commit changes you are redirected to the generic
Opsview downtime page “/state/host/name/opsview/downtime “ with no
options to include child hosts.
Does Opsview support putting child hosts in downtime?
No, we haven't provided this option yet.
We deliberately override the Nagios CGIs because they don't work in a
distributed fashion.
To support child hosts, we would need to do more investigation into
how child hosts would work, whether it works in a distributed
environment, and what other changes required (eg, I think Nagios just
sets a "child hosts" flag, whereas it would be more consistent with
the rest of Opsview if we set downtime for all hosts and services
below this child host).
Not on our immediate roadmap, but we're open for sponsorship
discussions.
