Hello,
I try to restore the opsview database with the command:  gunzip -c /usr/local/nagios/var/backups/nagios-files-2010-06-09-0311.tar.gz|mysql -u root -p
However, I get this message after entering my password:

ERROR at line 1: Unknown command '\''.

Then I get back at the prompt.
What is wrong?

The main problem here is that you are using a file backup to restore a mysql database.  Look for nagios-db.*.sql.gz files in the backup area rather than nagios-files-*.tar.gz files.
