*Job Description: *

·         Manages the Netgear Commercial Business Unit new product lab
facility in San Jose. - This includes organizing, planning and
installation/decommissioning of equipment used by Product Engineers during
new product development or competitive product evaluation; coordinating
with Product Engineers for setting up special network configurations as
needed to assist with customer support issues or new product Alpha and Beta
testing.

·         Hands-on technical competitive product analysis – coordinates
with product engineers to install and evaluate feature sets and usability
of competitive switch, wireless and management products.

·         New product benchmarking and competitive evaluation - Under the
guidance of product engineers, this position manages projects with third
party testing labs for interoperability, performance, and standards
compliance. Works with Product Marketing to publish these results. (Tolly
Group, Lippis Report, etc.)

·         Customer Support Engineering Management – assists Product
Engineers in coordinating the resolution of customer found issues between
NETGEAR Support and NETGEAR Engineering and NETGEAR QA. For critical field
issues, this position may be called upon to reproduce a customer found
issue in the San Jose lab to assist the Netgear QA and SW engineering team
to isolate the root cause. Works with Netgear QA teams and Product
Engineers to ensure reproduction and validate defects reported by customers
and plan the resolution with the appropriate engineering teams.

·         Pre-sales technical design support – Acts as a technical
consultant to field sales engineers, product management and support
engineers for new customer opportunities. Validates solution designs for
wired, wireless and management feature operation and behaviors.



*Skill Set:*

·         More than 10 years of  hands-on working experience in networking
technology

·         More than 5 years of working experience in network switching,
routing, and wireless product testing and/or installation and maintenance

·         Experience with scripting languages such as Tcl, Expect, Python.

·         Working experience with testing tools such as IXIA, Spirent and
VeriWave.

·         Working experience with layer 2 and layer 3 Ethernet switch
products based on switch merchant chipset vendors like Broadcom and Marvell

·         Familiar with common switch CLI (Command Line Interface) from
cisco, HP, etc

·         Familiar with basic layer 2 standards like IEEE 802.3ad (LACP),
IEEE 802.1ad (Spanning Tree Protocol) and its related standards like RSTP
and MSTP. And various VLAN protocols and applications.

·         Familiar with wireless standards, products and solutions such as
802.11, 802.1x, MIMO, authentication technologies,

·         Has working experience with network management products and
familiar with SNMP technology

·         Has working experience with Linux OS

·         Familiar with outsourced development partner relationships and
managing tasks planning in this type of business relationship.

·         Reviews and evaluates activities for compliance with NETGEAR
quality guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve
product quality and mitigate failure risk.

·         Leverages recognized domain expertise, and customer experience to
influence decisions with regard to program schedules, and release criteria
for outsourced development partners.

·         Can take ownership and enjoys leadership of the assigned project
or task to do whatever the task required to complete the task without
supervision

·         Has good inter-person communication skills and enjoys
collaborative team environments.

·         Experience in communicating with international teams where
English is not the primary language.

·         Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members
to set an example of network systems testing and test development
innovation and excellence.



*Desired Skills:*

·         CCNA, CCNP, or  CCIE certification in Routing and Switching and
Wireless is highly desired

·         Familiar with Agile software development methods.

·         Familiar with SDN technologies such as Openflow, Opflex, OVSdb,
OpenDaylight, ONOS, OpenCompute, and ONF open source projects.
