*Duration: 6 months* * * *Business Overview: * *Position Overview:* * * *Responsibilities/Deliverables that the resource will be responsible for:* Managing the infrastructure, automating the infrastructure. Testing and tuning the applications - Manage a multi-origin, zero-downtime, highly scalable web infrastructure. - Build, scale, and secure infrastructure, focusing specifically on a fully automated Linux environment - Design, develop and improve automation and tools for systems management, including development of scripts for our fully automated environment with Opscode Chef - Perform zero-downtime deployments across multiple globally distributed origins. - Participate in a L2-L3 rotating 24/7 on-call schedule. Roughly one week out every six, schedule frequency may change by team size. *Skills Overview:* *What are the MUST have skills and technologies that you are looking for in a candidate?* 1. - Solid understanding and fluid use of Linux - Experience working in large environments with many moving pieces - Expert in Shell scripting or comfortable stepping into Ruby, Python and PHP. - Good verbal and written communication skills - Prior experience in a fast-paced environment - Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking - Experience with a top Cloud Provider * * Summary: Install, configure, and support an organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) and Internet system or a segment of a network system. Responsible for monitoring network to ensure network availability to all system users. Education/Experience. Associate degree in computer related field required. Bachelor degree in computer science preferred. 8+ years experience required. Skills and Competencies: Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Expert ability to work independently and manage one’s time. Expert ability to identify, interpret and evaluate system and network requirements. Expert knowledge of computer hardware and software as it related to LAN/WAN. Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: Direct staff to perform data backups and disaster recovery operations. Direct staff to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary. Review and approve the planning and implementation of network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware. Review and approve the configuration of email applications or virus protection software. Review and approve the design, configuration and testing of computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
